Hom Room Addition

This project transformed a two story a duplex into a single unit. The original exterior patio was enclosed and a stairwell was built to tie the two units together. The stairs are maple treads with opaque glass risers. The stair railing system utilized glass panels to keep the room feeling open and allow light from the skylights above to spill into the space below.  The skylights were fixed and operable to create a clerestory for passive cooling and heating. The skylights were also oriented North facing to help alleviate unwanted solar heat gain. Located in Belmont Heights, Long Beach, CA.
